Assembly Specialist

General Requirements

The Assembly Specialist is utilized in the Final Assembly Department. This job consists of three basic jobs: assembly, test and packaging of units. This is a job that involves a lot of coordinated hand work with small parts, mechanical assembly utilizing various screw and nut drivers; voltage measurements and pass-fail testing; and packaging finished units for shipping. This person, as required, may provide qualified assistance in other production departments.

Essential Functions of Assembly

  • Ability to sit at workbench on a continual basis.
  • Continual use of manual/air/ electric screwdrivers.
  • Continual fine finger manipulation.
  • Continual high speed assembly Left / Right / Both hands.
  • Obtains and sorts parts.
  • Ability to differentiate colors precisely.
  • Reads fine print and diagrams / drawings on a frequent basis.
  • Cleans Assembly area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions of Testing:

  • Ability to sit at workbench on a continual basis.
  • Use computer to log in and initiate test routine.
  • Utilize a voltmeter to make voltage measurements.
  • High speed use of Left / Right / Both hands.

Essential Functions of Packaging:

  • Obtains and sorts packaging containers.
  • Obtains and sorts products.
  • Assemble cardboard cartons and inserts.
  • Line and pad cartons.
  • Wrap protective material around product.
  • Insert product into boxes from standing position.
  • Use of manual tape gun.
  • Label cartons.
  • High speed assembly using Left / Right / Both hands.
  • Use of manual / air / electric screwdrivers.
  • Ability to lift from 1 to 50 pounds.

Hazard Assessment

  1. Work related exposure to potential cuts on the hands from circuit boards.
  2. Work related exposure to injuries from dropped tools.
  3. Potential injuries to back from improper lifting techniques.
  4. This job involves prolonged repetitive motions and standing.

Chemical Exposure

  1. Potential work related exposure to cleaners such as Simple Green, 409 and Windex.

Personal Protective Equipment Required

  1. Closed toed shoes and pants/skirts that cover the legs when sitting.
  2. Wash hands before handling food or touching the face.
  3. Use of safety glasses and gloves is suggested when using cleaners.

Requirements

This position requires speed, consistency, and accuracy in tasks, meeting precise tolerances and standards.  The ability to demonstrate flexibility in the work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.  This position requires sustained concentration and prolonged commitment to job tasks.  Proven above average attendance and punctuality required. Must have verbal, written communication skills and ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions. This position requires prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand-eye coordination.

$50,000 Life policy. Additional payout for accidental death.
$100,000 Life policy for work related travel.

LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE
Pays 60% of monthly income after 90 days off the job for non-work related disability.

PAID TIME OFF (PTO)
Combination of sick leave and vacation.
Eligible for 88 hours at year 1 (2.2 weeks).
Eligible for 128 hours at year 2 (3.2 weeks).
Eligible for 168 hours at year 5 (4.2 weeks).

HOLIDAYS
10 Paid holidays per year.

401(k) RETIREMENT SAVINGS PLAN
Eligible employees may contribute up to 25% of their gross annual income before taxes. Immediate 100% vesting. Rane matches 50% of the first 6% contributed by the employee.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Regular employees who work twenty (20) or more hours per week are eligible to apply for educational assistance. We offer full tuition reimbursement and half the cost of books for approved classes taken at Washington State accredited schools.
